With the New Year nearly upon us, the year changes and the month and day reset back to 1. A lot of people are fresh off December leave and had some time to relax, recharge, as well as reorder their priorities, so they’ve made lists; New Years Resolutions. These, as you know, are lists of what they want to do or achieve in the New Year (which often is to learn a new skill), things they’d like to do more of, things they’d like to do less of and, even things that they’d like to stop altogether. Many small business owners aim to improve some sort of IT aspect of their business at this stage (eg, upgrade this machine, change this printer, try a new system, improve the organisation’s online presence or even give the organisation website a long overdue overhaul.
Before long, our lives pick up speed again, and our New Years Resolutions seem to take the back seat (“I had a long day at the office, I am really too tired to go to the gym” or, “I’m too busy to prepare a healthy supper, let’s get take-aways” are just 2 examples of what happens. School starts, businesses start operating again and our lives become a hectic mish-mash of putting out one fire, only to find three others ignite.
